Set on the crest of Bernal Heights, this existing three story house was completely dismantled. Only the original staircase remained. The house was an exercise in framing the 270 degree spectacular view of San Francisco afforded by the house location. Three glass boxes - two projecting forward from the new wood slated facade and one inverted creating a courtyard terrace, captured the view. A series of large boxes penetrated the ceiling, emphasizing the vertigo of steep hill outside. With Lynne Breslin Architects.
